The four farms were near each other. The crowd gathered round Swifts Murrays on the roadside and when they saw the police a cry of horror rose from the crowd.
Swift’s wife who was an invalid for 8 years was removed from her home in a dying condition. The furniture was taken and a padlock put on the door. The same happened at the other three houses. They were known as the Drumbaragh eviction.
