Ar an leathanach seo

  1. There are some very old and remarkable roads near here. The little hamlet called “Coach Road” gets its name from the road (still used by those on foot) passing through it right to the top of the Sliabh na Much Hills. At this point a beautiful view can be had of the Golden Vale to the north and “Glen of Aherlow to the south. The road at this point turns sharply to the east and then to the north east slanting right down the northern slope of the Sliabh na Much Hills till it reaches a place called Ballyglass. Here it turns due north until the town of Tipperary is reached. Halfway down the slope there is a little well, overhead which there is a slab bearing the date. I remember also portion of the walls of an old house, probably an inn, to be standing here. This was evidently the road used by Bianconis cars on the journey from Cahir to Tipperary. Up to the Great War both sides of the hills were covered with heavy gross timber. This was all cut away but our own government set to work and has replanted the whole place again. Many interesting stories could, I am sure, have been told about the adventures, robberies ect, that took place where this road passed through the great woods of long ago.
