  1. There are two forges in this parish and the names of the smiths are James Maguire and William Collins. Their fathers before them and their grandfathers were smiths too. One forge is situated in the centre of the Village of Murroe and the other one is situated about half a mile from the Village. This is a description of the village forge which I often go to. The walls are made of stone and the roof is slated. The door is shaped like a horseshoe and it is very wide and big. It is made of timber and it is very old. Posters and notices are pasted onto it very often. There are two anvils in it. There are two fireplaces in it also and two bellows for to blow them. The walls are lined with horseshoes of all kinds. It is a very high building. The anvils and the bellows were got in Limerick city.
