  1. A sad drowning occured at the sea-shore at Ballybrassil about thirty-two years ago. In which four Rathcoursey fishermen lost their lives. Their names were :- David Sheehan, William O Mahony, Thomas Macarthy, and – Fitzgerald. They were lost in a fierce storm, and their bodies were washed up on the strand the following morning. They were removed by horse and car to their homes.
