  1. The house in Ballybrassil, formerly occupied by Mr Fergus O Farrell and now owned by Mr Anderson was long ago known as Reddington Academy. It overlooks the harbour and is about three miles to the East of Cobh. At the end of the Penal Times it was used as a Secondary School or Academy by Fr. Harrington. He taught Classic & Mathematics and Daniel O Connell & his brother Maurice spent some time there before the former went to Douai in France. Up to recently there was an old iron pot in the vicinity which, the old people said was used for cooking porridge and was called by the old people "Daniel O Connell's pot".
