    Roinn Roinn Postáil
    The old houses were built of mud and are known as mud walled cabins. The roof was made of thatch. The beds were called settle beds. It acted as a seat in in the day time and it was converted as a bed in the night. They had no grates or fireplaces but the fire was on the ground and they would have a hole in the wall to cause a draught. They used put a wad of straw in the hole to stop the fire. The chimney was made of mud. They used have a hole in the wall with a bag to it as a window. There are not many half-doors now.
