- Prohus Quarry
There is a quarry in Prohus. It is a lake now. Sir George Colthurst the landlord of Prohus found out that limestone was buried there. He hired men and bought machinery to drain it. They built a kiln to burn the limestone. They drained the lake and they got some stones.
A watchman took care of it each night. One night the man went away gambling. Something happened to the machine, the water turned in and overflowed the quarry and all the machinery was lost.
