- No one in this district would get married on a Wednesday or Friday. The old belief is - That girls who get married on these days die in the first baby.
No one gets married in the month of May. It is supposed to be a most unlucky month.
The newly married couple do not go to mass the first Sunday after getting married.
Brides should wear something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.
The bride should remain in a different house to the bridegroom the night before the marriage and should not meet him on the marriage day until they meet in the church.
The bride is supposed to cut the wedding cake herself. If anyone else does it she will be unlucky.
Any wedding cake that is left is given in small quantities to friends. The general belief is, if you put it under your pillow for three nights in succession you would dream of you future wife or husband.
