  1. Local Poets
There were not many famous poets in my locality. I have heard of one man named James. Mc Keon. He lived in Cloonfad. He was born in the year 1874. He died about the age of 60. He died in the year 1934.
He wrote very nice pieces of poetry. He wrote a song about Carrowhill, and about Lost Potatoes. He died a Bachelor.
    Lost Potatoes
    I
I' was on a Thursday morning lately
    I got orders to prepare
Some seed flounders for the market
Which my mother had to spare
The spuds I sorted from a good and decent crop
With the little ones on the bottom, and the big ones on the top.
    II
I lied them in bundles with little knots of straw.
And two finer butts of seed potatoes, I'm sure you never saw.
    My sister was my guardian
But being busy on that day.
