    (3) The position for the village school in Kilmoganny was changed frequently.
    (a) Mr Wm Mc Grath taught school in Chapel St just above Mr Ned Moore's shop. Classes were indoors & boys & girls attended, bringing a small sum of money to pay the teacher who lived in the school.
    (4) There was a National School where Mr Jim Gorman's house now stands. Mr Byrne was the teacher
    (5) This present one was opened in 1856. It served various purposes, being at first, the residence of Mr John Andrews & then an hospital. The dead & wounded policemen after the battle of Carrickshock, Dec. 14th 1831, were brought here.
    (6) In Mr Mc Emery's wood, there was another school.
