- Potato-cakes were made from potatoes flour, soda and new milk mixed together. The cakes were made on a 'losit' and baked on a griddle. The potato-cake took about an hour to bake.
Boxty bread was made with flour, soda, and sour milk. It was made on a losit and baked on a bastable. It took about half an-hour to bake. When half baked it was turned up side down and a hard crust formed on each side of it.
A currant cake was made for birthdays and threshing days, and when a meitheal used gather to dig potatoes the woman of the house baked a currant cake.
