- How the name Súileabháin was first made.
One very stormy night a long time ago, a ship was wrecked on one of the Irish coasts. All the crew were lost except one, a giant, who had one eye in the middle of his forehead. No one knew his name, so in the end the called him, súil abháin. He got married, and he had one son who was named Súileabháin, and the name came down along, until the time of the English, when it was changed to Sullivan. But that name is still common among the Irish. My mother told me this story.
