    a calf and three pence for a bonham. The markets for butter were held in Riverstown and Ballyfarnon. When the women were filling firkins of butter if they had not enough of butter to finish the firkin they went to the market and bought as much butter as finished the firkin.
    Long ago farthings, threepenny, fourpenny, and tenpenny bits were very common. The four shilling piece, the crown, sovereigns half sovereigns five pound notes, ten pound notes and twenty pounds were very common.
