  1. Long ago the people never wore shoes until they were twenty years of age. But nowadays the children wear shoes before they are three months. The shoes in days gone by were made by country shoemakers who were Patrick Leyden of Coolamooneen and Michael Gilligan of Lough Bo. John Galvin of Drumshinnagh who is over eighty years of age never wears shoes in the summer time.
