    St Patrick passed through Co Leitrim on his way from Co Roscommon to Mag Sleact in Co Cavan to destroy the chief idol Crom Cruac.

    Pagan rites were also carried on at "Poultai Hole" near Braveigha. Tobar Padraig is the name still given to a well in Liscarbon.
    St Patrick crossed the Shannon at Drumboylan on stepping stones and these stones which have since been called St Patrick's stepping stones are under the altar in the new church in Drumboylan.
    This stone which is a huge rocking stone lies on two other stones and is 6 feet high and 12 feet wide and can be moved by the slightest impulse.
    In the year 1920 some Frenchmen visiting this country heard of this stone and went to see it. Those men prised the stone and left it unrockable.
