On entering the "corpse house" the latch is raised and a prayer said before the door is opened.
If by accident a person dies away from home it is considered very unlucky to take the corpse into it. It is usually laid out in an out house and the wake held in the "living house".

When you visit a newly born baby it is lucky to put money in its right hand.
It is lucky for a man to give money to a child first.
A baby is always left to sleep in its christening dress after coming from the chapel.
It is considered lucky for a baby to be born with a lucky cap.
