- About two years ago a Mermaid was seen on Lough Allen near Ballinaglena by two men. The priest in Ballinaglena preached about it and warned the people not to touch the lake as it was expected that someone would be drowned.
- The following story was told to me by my mother who had heard it from her mother. Nancy Smith lived in a mud house and each day she pulled it down and she built it up again
