  1. How Coolnacally got it's name.
    Traditional story told by Frank Cahalan of Lackafinna who was 81 years of age.
    A young fellow by the name of Seán O'Éilighe lived alone with his mother about a mile to the east of Turoe wood.
    Evidently he was not a very dutiful son as he and his mother were almost always at loggerheads.
    One night when he came home in very bad humour with a sudden blow he killed his mother.
    Remorse and terror set in when he saw the old woman dead. He decided to bury her immediately and seeing a firkin in the corner of the house he put the dead body into it after mutilating the body for that purpose. He went to the nearest graveyard to bury the body.
    When he reached the field now called "Coolnacally" he met his neighbour Thomas Higginston, with another bag on his back and another firkin in his bag.
    Now Higginston's firkin was full of
