- There are but few forges in the parish of Donaghmore. The only ones are Willie John Gillespie's forge which is situated at the Crossroads. The other one is Robinsons which is situated about three miles from the Cross-roads. Both forges are along the county road. There is only one smith in Gillespies forge at present whose name is Willie John for his brother Tom died some time ago. The old people say that Gillespie's forge is a very old one. There are but two smiths in the other forge, Albert Robinson and John Proctor. It is not as old a forge as Gillespie's, it was only started first about forty years ago. Neither of these two forges are very large and both roofs are of slates. In Gillespie's forge there is a fire-place at one end of it and beside the fire there are bellows which are used for lighting the fire. There are two doors on it, one at the front and the other at the back.
