- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)are sledges, hammers, files and nippers. The smith makes nearly all the farm implements such as ploughs, harrows and cultivators. The smith shoes all the horses and donkeys. The smith does some forge work in the open air such as "shoeing" cart-wheels. There is usually a stand in the yard for this purpose. The "shoeing" is first put in a big fire until it is red and then it is battered on the wheel with sledges. Smiths are always looked upon as being very strong.
Forges are always great places for telling stories especially in Winter. The usual things that are talked about are war and politics.
