   To cure whooping cough the old people put the child under a donkey three times in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. While doing this the donkey got a plate of oatmeal and what the donkey left was made into an oat cake and it was given to the child and made it better.

   The milk that a ferret would leave would cure whooping cough also.

   To cure ring worm a ring is made round the spot with a match and ink in honour of some saint’s name. Only the person that has the charm can do this.

   Some people can cure the “whittle” by making a plaster out of herbs.

   The seventh son of a family can sure the “evil”.

   If a child is born on Whit Sunday it will kill somebody or be killed itself.
