Cheer up my boy with heart and hand ¶ And think of New year's day

    (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)
We will all start together and then start a hymn.
With hymning and singing and lamenting as well.
For our lads that have nobly fell.
You see Dublin Castle it looks nice and bright.
Since the murderers have left it and taken
    to flight.
The sentence of banishment has forced them
    away.
So now will get freedom with the height
    of fair play.
Now the old Perjurers are starting to cry.
I mean the old judges they're sentenced to die.
Both judges and juries and hangmen as well.
They'll be all tied together and threw into hell.
Cheer up, my boys will burst the chains for
    Ireland's liberty.
We will write on the graves of our heroes
    brave.
    Who died for Ireland's cause.
Woud'nt I long to see old Ireland free.
    And our gallant Fenian boys.
