    was raided by the Danes for centuries and afterwards destroyed by fire.
    There is a place called Suidhe Macudha about six miles outside Lismore called after his name. There is a well in Lismore, called Saint Carthage's Well. It is dedicated to the Saint and it is believed that he built it. On his Feast Day the well overflows. The waters of this well are supposed to have healing powers. Bottles of water are taken from the well on the Feast Day of St Carthage and kept in every home. During the year if one of the family falls sick he is given some of this water to drink. The Feast of St. Carthage falls on the fourteenth May. It
