The Irish Rhine.
The Shannon flows through Limerick,
The Tergus flows through Clare,
The Suir comes down by Thurles town.
How bright they beam,
But there is a stream, of still a fairer hue.
That sings to the scenes of ever-greens.
The lovely Avon Dubh.

Away it sweeps, and laughs and leaps,
