  1. The mermaid lives in the sea. She has a body and head like a human being. Instead of legs she has a tail like a fish. She has long curly hair. It is said that she has the faculties of speech and hearing. She is very often heard singing down in the deep and she has a very sweet voice which has often allured sailors to jump into the ocean and dive down to see her.
    It is said that she has a comb , and that she often sits on the rock combing her hair. I heard that one day, there was a man walking on the seashore
