Long ago people did not believe in doctors or vets. They used cures of their own. The man or woman who had the cure of the mumps, his or her father and mother had to be of the same name. The curer would take the invalid and put a halter on him and bring him to a running stream, and make the Sign of the Cross three times with the running water and in three days he was cured.
