One day as Gobán was building the tower (it was nearly finished at the time) there was a horse-races on the Killala strand. Gobán was looking attentively at the races, from the top of the tower, throughout the day.
In the evening Gobán asked his employee how did he enjoy the races. The latter stated that he did not look at the races as he minding his own business. Gobán got insulted and took down the scaffolding. His employee started shouting for help. It happened that "an amadán" was passing by the tower at the time.
