- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)attached to the straddle. The creels were hung on the "Scurrogues." The straddle was secured by a belly - band which went round under the ass. There was a "Crupper" round the ass's tail to save the creels from falling out over the ass's head. Each creel used to hold one cwt. weight of potatoes. A famous creel-maker was Johnny O'Brien of Fahy, and the general fee was two shillings or two and six. The creels have become so extinct that a horse on the road would be as likely to bolt or shy at them as he would at a motor some time ago.
