  1. Bhí fear in a chomhnúidhe i gCarraig a' Chobhaltaigh fadhó. Fear cliste dob eadh é. Bí aon mach amháin aige. Do thogh sé a mhach suas agus níor leig sé dhó dul amach ins na sráideanna ná in aice leis an coinne, achth amháin san oidhche.
    Aon lá amháin bhí a athair ag dúl gp dtí aonach Cill Caoidhe. Agus ní raibh aon callamhaint aige. Do togh sé an mac leo. Nuair a bhí siadh ag dul tré Maigh-fhearna connacadhar sgata cailiní ag teacht chúca. Dubhairth an mach leis an athair " Cad iad san ? " Sgata gé arsa an athair. Níor labhair an mach focal ar feadh i bhfadh. Nuair a bhiodhar ag dul tré Moveen Dúbhairt an t-athair les an mach. "Cé an fath nach bhfuil tú ag cainnth. Dubhairt an mac " A ndeanfadh tú rudh domh " . " Deanfad " arsa an t-athair. Ceannaigh gé dhom arsa an mac. Ceannochad arsa an t-athair. Agus as son amach deirtear go bhfuil sgata bean cósamhail lé sgata gé.
