    After the battle of Fontenoy, a ship came in the mouth of the Shannon and the pilots of Kilcloher got into their canoe and rowed out to the ship. As they neared the ship, they saw on board a number of people whom they knew but just as they were about to board her, she disappeared and it was some time afterwards that they heard of the great battle and of the death of those men.
