  1. In this district many people saw strange animls when travelling late at night. Late one night Pat Cooney Drumfomina was coming from Virginia and as he was passing the place where James Reilly Lismeen was found dead he saw a spotted heifer cross the road before him, and disappear when on the other side.
Frank Nulty Assan and two neighbours were out on Assan Road late at night and a big brown cat followed, and went between them, and when they came to a stream of water he disappeared.
John Mc Gibney Drumfomina was going for a doctor about twelve o'clock at night, and on the Lacken road a large black dog walked with him, although he was travelling quickly on a bicycle, and disappeared at a place where a man was killed.
Pat Lynch Carrickeeshil was hired in a house in Aughaloghan and one night he was awakened by horses kicking each other. He got up to investigate, and when he was going out to the stable he met a large animal like a wolf coming out of the stable.
