  1. Once there lived a poor man and he used make boots, and one day there came a fairy to the house, and the shoemaker told him that he was in very bad circumstances, and that he was almost starving. The fairy made a "caley" with him, and he said that he would help him out if he would tell nobody. The fairy went home and the man went to bed, and when he got up in the morning there was a fine new pair of boots on the shelf, and this happened for a long time, and the people got suspicious, as to how he could get so good boots. Soon the man grew very rich, and he told someone where he was getting all his riches, and as soon as he did the pairs of boots were never left on the shelf again, and in a short time he was as poor as ever again.
