  1. The old Irish were very devout and they had prayers for every work that they started.
When they lay in bed at night they said this prayer.
There are four corners on my bed. There are four angels over head Mathew, Mark, Luke and John. God bless the bed that I lie on. And whether I rise now or never I give my soul to God for ever.
They had also another prayer to say when going to sleep.
In the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ crucified. I lie down to rest. Bless me O Lord defend and keep me from sin and danger Amen.
When the old people saw the new moon they would say this prayer.
I see the moon and the moon sees me. God bless the moon
