  2. Churning
    We have a churn at home. It is over twenty years of age. It is like a barrel widened at the bottom and narrow at the top. The name of the various parts are the churn, the lid, the dash, the dabler. In the Summer milk used to be churned every day but since the creameries started no milk is churned. All the country milk is sent to the creamery. If a stranger comes in when churning is in progress he must take a brash in order not to take the butter off the churn. The dash which has a long handle is worked up
