The farmer consulted the priest, who told him to bring a bottle of holy water and make a round ring. The man did as he was told and when the Ghost appear he sprinkled the holy water and the Ghost disappeared. A light and the cracking of a whip is said to be heard at midnight once each year in that lane ever since.
