- A Protestant man by the name of Pelson lived in Kilkarnery. (Kilcarney). He was dying and he called for the priest. He told the workman who was a Catholic to go for the priest. His son who was a Protestant said if the priest went there he would shoot him. The workman went into the field to catch the horse. Every time the man left his hand on the horse he would gallop away. After some time he walked up to the horse when he was grazing. When he came to Rathnafishogue Fr Blanchfield was up. He told him that Mr Pelson was dying and he wanted him to attend him, and the priest said you are a long time coming. The man said "Fr you'll want to mind yourself. His(continues on next page)
