(Half a hundredweight) This step hit against the clapping post on the other side and broke it in two.The same night a ball of Lightning struck a tree on the same farm - John Kennedy's of Carrick - and went down around the roots. It cut the roots that any one of them would take me half an hour to cut with an axe. The tree never budded after.
