    churning. It was supposed to bring good luck. Other people used to put a sock of a plough in the fire and it was supposed to burn the heart out of who was taking the butter.

  2. Our churn is straight. It is about three feet high. It is a dash churn and is worked with the hand. Mother churns and makes the butter. When any one comes in they churn a bit. They say they leave the weight of themselves of butter on the churn. Our churn is six years old. We churn twice a week in summer and once a week in the winter.
