Kelly was a remarkable priest for holiness. He died on the 21st August 1824. He had great difficulty in transfering the congregation from Kilmachree to Piercestown. He is buried within the ruins. A large wooden crucifix stands over his grave. It is able to cure the toothache.
The foundation of what is believed to have been a leper hospital are in Kerlogue, about a mile from the town of Wexford.
