  1. Here is a list of the local beliefs with regard to the weather:
    1. If the clouds are low it is a sign of rain, and if the clouds are high it is a sign of good weather.
    2. If there are red clouds around the sun it is a sign of rain.
    3. If the new moon is on it's back it is a sign of rain.
    4. If there is a circle around the moon it is a sign of rain, the larger the circle the nearer the storm. A small circle indicates that the storm is not at hand.
    5. Falling stars are a sure sign of rain: the twinkling stars are another sign of rain.
    6. Another indication of rain is a rainbow in the morning, and a rainbow in the evening is a sign of good weather.
    7. Friday's rainbow is a sign the coming week will be wet.
    8. The wind from the north in the winter brings frost and snow.
    9. Wind from the south generally brings rain.
    10. wind from the east brings unhealthy weather.
    11. Wind from the west brings wet weather.
    12. The south-west wind brings most rain.
