  1. Shops were not common in olden times. Buying and selling was carried on after mass. The small shops in which there used be groceries sold in were called huxter shops
    Money was not always given for goods. Turf and eggs were sometimes exchanged for goods. Labour was not given in exchange for goods. Sometimes a lamb or a turkey was given for a certain amount of goods.
