  1. Master Masterson, a Colehill teacher, was accidently drowned in the Royal Canal about 35 years ago. He went on a friendly visit to Abbeyshrule & met with some friends in the neighbouring public houses. When going home by the canal banks his cycle skidded & he fell into the water & was drowned.

  2. About a hundred years ago the court was held in Ballymahon R.C. Church. A gentleman named Corney O'Brien of Creevaghmore was in Galway. The people of Galway cried shame at him for Ballymahon to allow the court to be held in the church. Cornet returned for the next court
