  1. About two hundred years ago there was an old man who lived in Darogue. He used to make candles His name was Pat Gerety, he used to get flaggers and take the middle out of them. He used to get grease and melt it in a grisset & then he would peel the flaggers & dip them in the grease. Then he used to get a turnip and cut a hole in the centre of it and place the candle in it.
