  1. We call it the Forgney river because it flows through this district on its way to the Inny which it joins at Pallas.
    This river rises in Ardbrennan bog in Washford, Co Westmeath, about six miles from Forgney.
    There are three corn mills on its banks, one at Washford, one at Moyvore and one in Forgney. All these mills are working. The mill in Forgney can be worked by an oil engine if the water is too low in the river to turn the wheel.
