    Ratharney - (Ráth Áirneadh). The Fort of the Sloe-tree.
    Drimanure - (Druim an Iubhair). the Ridge of the Yew-tree.
    Abbeyshrule - (Mainistir Srutha). The Abbey on the Stream. The Abbey is the most preserved of all the ruins in the County. Founded about the year 800 A.D. Destroyed by the Danes about year 950 A.D. Restored by O'Farrell Prince of Annally in 1340. The abbey was suppressed and lands confiscated in the reign of Queen Elizabeth.
    Doon - (Dún). A Fort. There is a small fort still to be seen here.
    Clonbrin - Clúain Bhriain, O'Brien's Meadow.
    Rathsallagh, (Ráth Salach). The Dirty Fort.
    Knockagh - (Cnoc Each). The Hill of the Steed.
