  1. The most common wild birds to be found in our district are, the curlew, the pheasant, the cuckoo, the corn crake, the partridge, the crow, and the pigeon. Some of these are migratory birds such as, the cuckoo, the corn crake, and the pheasant. The pigeon builds her nest in an ivy bush.
    She lays two white eggs and sits on them three weeks. I often heard the term pigeons clutch consisting of two children.
    Boys are told if they rob birds nests frogs will come and bring them away at night.
