  1. There lived a man named mc Cormac in Aharragh. He was in a habit of rambling to a house in Ratharney. One night when he was leaving, the cock flew down from the collar-ties and crew twelve times before him.

    He went to the fair and when he was coming home he killed a man the name of Beglan from Moydow.
    He was hung soon after in the town of Longford.
    My father told me that it was unlucky for a hen to crow before anyone.
    It is said that if the eggs are round the chickens will be pullets, and the oval shaped eggs will be cocks.
