  1. (continued from previous page)
he wanted to kill him. Besides cock fighting he also went in for dog fighting. After the cock fights were finished if they had any time they would have dog fights with big bets on. There was a man named Mickey Kenny who was in charge of the fighting dogs. He was able to make a good fighter out of any dog. He used a big loft where he used where he used to train the young dogs and his method was to take off his boots and go down on his knees and commence jumping about and snarling and barking while his nephew held the pup in front of him setting him and encouraging him the best way he could. One time they got a young bull pup who was making no attempt to fight no matter what they did, but this day the nephew kept slapping him and setting while Mickey kept jumping at him coming nearer to him. Every time till at last the pup gave a spring and seized him by the lip and held on to it. He began to roar and point at the nephew to pull off the dog. He could not talk but the nephew only looked on saying "bear it Uncle Mickey it will be the making of the pup."
