   There is a holy well in Fore. It is called St. Fechin's well. There are two fish in it. They are like eels. The water of this well cannot be boiled. Once certain people named Talbots tried to boil it, but failed. Bad luck followed this. One day the Connaught men pulled down their house and the Talbots had to leave their home district. If you go to the well you will be cured of diseases. You must say some prayers at it and leave something belonging to you on a tree which stands close by.

   About a quarter of a mile from here there is a Holy Well which is little known. It is situated on Keneghan estate about two hundred yards from the road. As the townland of Ballyfore is beside the well is thought to have belonged to the monks of Fore. Probably the monks of Fore had a monastery here as Keneghan estate is said to have belonged to them. The strange thing about this well is that it is situated on the side of a hill thirty feet above a little stream that runs from it.
