    People believe that a great deal of witchcraft was carried out on May Eve long ago. On that account people used to sprinkle Easter Water on the fields, crops, cattle and other animals.

    Shrove Tuesday night is called Pancake Night. People made pancakes and put a ring in one of them. For the person who gets the ring it is looked on as a lucky omen.
